Mid-Buchanan JH/HS students' sports/activities physical day will be held on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, at Mosaic Family Care North Pointe Entrance C (across from Cheddars). The cost will be $30 cash or card. Call 816-271-4994 select 1 and then choose 8 for Melissa Farris. A parent/guardian must be present at the appointment.

Reminder: This Thursday and Friday, July 18 and 19, the school's back drive will be completely closed down due to asphalt milling work. Parking in the main lot is accessible again starting tomorrow, July 18. Thanks for your patience!

Dragon Fans! This summer the district is having quite a bit of parking lot and back drive work done now that the new construction projects are completed. I talked with the contractor today. Please note the following. *This Wednesday - Friday, July 17th-19th, the contractor will be onsite doing all of the asphalt milling in the main lot, followed by milling the back drive area. *The main lot will be completely closed this Wednesday, July 17th. The contractor is hopeful to complete the main lot milling in one day. *Entry and exit to the district can be done using the west access road. Please do so cautiously during this time. *Parking for staff, students attending weights, and Athena must all be on the west side of the building. You are welcome to park in the new gravel lot on the west side of our exit road (south of the new greenhouse). *The contractor thought that the main lot should be opened back up on Thursday. Please note that until repaiving happens there will be no parking stripes. You are welcome to begin parking in the main lot again once they are finished milling. But, the back drive area will remain closed through the end of this week. *Once the contractor has finished milling the main lot, they will move to milling the back drive area. Again, please consider the back drive area closed down through the end of this week. *Following the milling of all necessary areas, the main lot and back drive will be fully open until the subcontractor then comes onsite to do the drainage and concrete work in the back. Once this part of the project begins, the back drive will then be closed down again. I learned that this part of the project may still be a week or two away. Friendly reminder the MSHSAA Dead Week started today and will end on July 7th. During this time all facilities are closed. All activities will resume on Monday, July 8th.

Just a reminder that today is the last day of summer school.

The Winter Guard Team was the June board spotlight. We are thrilled to share the incredible achievements of our Winter Guard team! Last year, they began competing nationally and placed an impressive sixth. This year, they have continued to excel, competing in two national competitions and placing second in both! The team consistently ranked in the top third out of 25-30 teams, ranging from small to large schools. Additionally, they placed second in the State this past year! Congratulations to our talented Winter Guard team for their hard work and dedication. We are so proud of you!

This week at summer school was busy with shaving cream fun, kindness bracelets, smarties math, and the fifth and sixth grade farm field trip! Thank you Mrs. Duran and FFA volunteers for an amazing field trip.

For the first time ever, two of our talented students, Camy and Riley, were in Washington D.C. with their National History Day project! They presented their powerful documentary, "9/11: A Turning Point in Anti-Terrorism," to a panel of judges earlier this week, and unfortunately did not make it to the final round. However, Camy and Riley received Outstanding Missouri Project from 9 categories and 18 submissions! Congratulations, Camy and Riley! You've made Dragon Nation so proud!

The St. Joe Bucks will play at Mid-Buchanan on Saturday, June 15th. Mid Buchanan students get in FREE! Come out and support the Bucks in the Midwest Regional Football League Championship game!

Fifth graders reviewed food chains and showed off their knowledge by playing the food chain game!

Mr. Vincent and his students are learning to cook this week. Yesterday, students made pancakes and today they made sweet potato fries. While most students tried the sweet potato fries, the consensus was they were not as good as fast food fries!
