2024 Summer School is off to a great start! Fifth and sixth-grade students completed math problems to learn about Mrs. Malita. Students worked on fractions and order of operations to discover facts about Mrs. Malita's family. In Mrs. Woolery's reading class, students created a farm map from Charlotte's Web. This is a great visual for students to reference throughout their read-aloud!

Please join us in welcoming some new Dragons to our family! Welcome Jordan Morin to our Kindergarten Team. I have been teaching for 7 years, 6 of those years in Kindergarten, where my passion lies! Alongside my 3 daughters, I am beyond excited to join the Mid Buchanan Dragon family and really embrace our community and traditions! I look forward to creating new memories, build relationships with students and families and have an incredible 2024-2025 school year! Welcome Katie Comley to our 4th Grade Team. Hi. My name is Katie Comley! This will be my 7th year teaching. I have taught 3rd grade all prior 6 years and excited for the new challenge of 4th grade. My favorite part about teaching is the relationships I build with my students and their families. I currently reside in St. Joe. I have three children. Hunter (8), Charlie (2.5), and Brooks (6 months). Hunter attends Mid Buch and he will be in third grade this year. Charlie and Brooks will both be attending in the future as well. Most of my time away is spent at sports activities for Hunter and Charlie. I enjoy traveling with my husband, Josh, when he travels for work during summers. I am excited and look forward to being part of the community and to be a Dragon!

After an incredible 31 years in education, Mrs. Carlson is retiring! Her journey began with 3 years of teaching in Polo, MO, followed by 22 years at Orrick ELEM/JH/HS. For the past 6 years, she has been a cherished member of the Mid-Buchanan community, which she proudly calls her best years yet. Throughout her educational journey, Mrs. Carlson has impacted students from second grade to high school seniors. She also dedicated over 20 years to coaching cheer and 18 years to coaching track before her time at MB. Though she's retiring, Mrs. Carlson isn’t saying goodbye to education entirely—she's looking forward to subbing next year. She'll also enjoy more quality time with her family, which includes her 4 children and 4 grandchildren. Mid-Buchanan has been the perfect place for Mrs. Carlson to wrap up her remarkable career. We are so grateful to Dragon Nation for welcoming her and allowing her to become part of such an amazing staff and student body. Mrs. Carlson, your dedication and passion have forever touched our hearts. Join us in wishing Mrs. Carlson a joyful and fulfilling retirement!

Mrs. Tipton started teaching in St. Joseph in 1999. At that time, she was Miss Fry. She became a Dragon the following year. So lucky she did, because she was just in time to meet her future mother-in-law, who introduced her to the first love of her life, Tim Pollard. She was Mrs. Pollard for 16 years. After Tim passed away, she married the second love of her life, Brian, and became Mrs. Tipton. She has taught Kindergarten (St Joseph), 6th grade for 6 years, 3rd grade for 1 year, and 1st grade for 16 years. The friendships with her first-grade coworkers are some of the best, closest relationships. When an opportunity arose to teach art, she decided to give it a try! She has loved teaching art and seeing the creativity of these kids she’s known for years. We’ve gone through a lot of clay, cardboard, yarn, and paint! She’s seen some amazing works of art this year! She’s excited to spend time with friends, family, and her two dogs, Hazel and Pepper. First, she’s off on a dream vacation as soon as school is over, to celebrate and reflect on her career. After that, she will switch gears and begin working with Big Brothers Big Sisters. She will miss seeing the good friends she’s made here, and the kids.

Once a dragon, always a dragon! With a heart full of gratitude and memories, we celebrate the 30-year teaching career of Sherri Kline. Mrs. Kline attended Mid-Buchanan from Kindergarten through 12th grade, graduating in 1987. She earned her bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and a master's degree in Early Childhood Education and was fortunate to return to Mid-Buchanan to begin her teaching journey. Throughout her career, Mrs. Kline taught kindergarten for nine years, second grade for four years, and fifth grade for seventeen years. Her dedication and passion for teaching left a mark on countless students. She recounts many memorable stories, but one that stands out was when a kindergartener brought a live kitten in their backpack for show and tell. The kitten stayed in the backpack all day without making a sound, much to her surprise! Mrs. Kline is looking forward to embracing her role as a full-time GiGi to her two granddaughters, Layla and Scout. She also plans to catch up on some reading and hopes to travel. Thank you, Mrs. Kline, for your dedication to education. You will be missed, but your legacy will live on in the hearts of all those you’ve touched.
