Elementary Book Fair

Posted on 08/27/2021

Reading for pleasure inside and outside of school has real and long lasting benefits. It unlocks the power of information and imagination and helps children discover who they are. Here are some things you can do to help children develop stronger reading skills and a love for reading.

  • Set the example. Let children see you read.
  • Have a collection of books in your home. Update your collection routinely to keep pace with changing tastes and reading skills.
  • Support our book fair and allow your children to choose their own books to read.

At this time we are hoping to hold a normal fair as it is best to visit the fair with your student to help them select books that everyone can enjoy.  We will have some COVID-19 guidelines that we will share as we get closer to the fair and know how things are going in our world.  Here’s this year’s fair dates and times, which are also subject to change:

Monday, September 13 - 7-8:45 am and 3-5pm

Tuesday, September 14 - 3-6pm

Wednesday, September 15- 4-6pm

Thursday, September 16 - GRAND EVENT 8:30-10:30am (grades PK-2) and 12:30- 2:30pm (grades 3-6) see GRAND EVENT flyer for specific details.

Also, we are looking for volunteers to help work the fair.  Please visit our fair website https://www.scholastic.com/bf/midbuchananelemschool2) and click on the volunteer section to sign up.  If you need help with the website, feel free to email me at mkelly@midbuchanan.k12.mo.us
